Picking Cranberries on the Mayo Rd, Yukon
This 2.5 feet by 3 feet, mounted on coreboard, hand made and hand felted image is created with 100% wool. The beaded floral flowers were sold to me by Mida Donnessey of Upper Liard, Yukon on my winter gauntlet style red mittens. She loved that I incorporated them into the time surrounding my fathers death. She told me she could have just made new mittens for me. I did order new mittens I ordered beaver mittens this time. I still have them. People reading this story may think I should retain this felt in is my private collection because of sentimental memories. I have learned that when most people die the things that they loved in life ends up in boxes or in back rooms, seldom it is in a place of importance. I love Midas family. I loved her sisters, her cousins, love her children, her great grandchildren. I am selling this felted image and I do consider payment for the stories, gas and passages of time evidenced in the felt are adequately reflected in the price I set on it. It is very likely that when this felt sells I will load up my truck and take a trip up north and visit friends and family of the heart and share the wealth around.
